HOW TO GET TO ROME

Rome has two airports: Leonardo da Vinci in Fiumicino and Pastine in Ciampino. Fiumicino is the most important airport for scheduled domestic and international flights. Ciampino, however, it has become the reference airport for low cost flights.

FROM ROME FIUMICINO TO THE CENTER OF ROME

Leonardo da Vinci Airport is located at 32 Km from the center of Rome and can be reached through the Rome-Fiumicino motorway leading to the Ring Road (raccordo anulare) and from here to the center.

For those who want to reach the center of Rome in a short time and without a car, the best service is the Leonardo Express train leaving every 30 minutes, from 6:23 to 23:23, and in 32 minutes reaches the Termini train station . The ticket costs € 14.00 for a single journey. There is also a metropolitan service which leads from Fiumicino to Rome's Tiburtina railway station in 47 minutes with departures every 30 minutes. Tickets cost € 8.00.

For those who want to take a taxi it is important to pay attention to unauthorized cars. Use only white cars with official fare meter, available outside the terminal arrival area. The Municipality of Rome taxi adopt a fixed fare for destinations within the “Aurelian Walls”, equal to € 48.00, including luggage, for a maximum of four passengers.

FROM ROME CIAMPINO TO THE CENTER OF ROME

Rome Ciampino Airport is located on the Via Appia Nuova, around 15 km from the center of Rome.

For those arriving in Ciampino who have decided to travel by car just follow the signs to the GRA, and from there you see all directions that lead to the different areas of Rome.

Those who do not travel by car can reach the center of Rome on the bus of the following companies: Atral, Cotral, Sit, Terravision, Schiaffini. For information on timetables, routes and ticket costs refer to the websites of the respective companies.

For those who want to use taxis, parking is located opposite the Arrivals Terminal. It is advisable to use only licensed taxis which offer a flat rate for Roma (all destinations inside the "Aurelian Walls") of € 30.00, including luggage and for a maximum of four passengers.

Rome has two main stations: Rome Termini and Rome Tiburtina.

The arrival in one or the other station depends on the departure city, by timetables and the type of train.

Each station provides links to all parts of the city by bus, subway, taxis.

by car

For those arriving from the north, the best way to reach Rome is the A1 Milano Roma. Coming from the west of Italy, you can take the Aurelia and then the Civitavecchia Rome. Those arriving from the Adriatic Coast can reach Rome via the Roma-L'Aquila. From south the route is the A1 (Napoli - Roma). All the highways cross the ring road (raccordo anulare) were you will find all road exit to the center and the sourroundings of Rome.

by bus

Many small and large Italian cities have bus links to Rome. Almost all lines have the terminus in Rome Tiburtina from there it is easy access to the center of Rome by bus, metro and taxi.
